Leaving the Derwent Water Dam the initial part of the walk follows the trach on the east
side heading north. The water level are quite low due to the dry weather this year.

Turning up Abbey Brook the heather providing a wonderful colour throughout the hills.

This photograph gives a better viewpoint to appreciate the colours and the weather conditions.

The view up towards Back Tor from the cairn on Lost Lad.

From the summit trig point on Back Tor looking north east.

Amazing rock formations litter these ridges.

Turning back and heading back for Derwent Water and an ice cream from the kiosk. The kids certainly enjoyed this walk.
